Mission Statement

Global Infrastructure:
The built environment and that portion of the global environment maintained by humankind.

Mission:
Perform research and develop methods, structures, and products to enhance the global infrastructure.

Scope:
The efforts of the Institute cover basic and applied research, development, and technology transfer in the fields of engineering, architecture, urban planning, economics, finance, political science, public administration, and law as they impact the global infrastructure.

Constituents:
The Institute serves federal, state, and local government, industry, and firms in private practice in the areas of design, materials,construction, management, policy, economics, and finance.

Participants:
Participants in IRI includes individuals in the fields of architectural, chemical, geotechnical, structural, transportation, and water resources engineering.

Individuals participating in the formation of IRI: JoAnn Browning, David Darwin, Thomas Glavinich, Carl Locke, Carl Kurt, Steven McCabe, Bruce McEnroe, A. David Parr, Robert Parsons, Stanley Rolfe, Francis Thomas, and C. Bryan Young.

Service Area:
The Infrastructure Research Institute facilitates the development of research programs to enhance the built and global environments in the United States and world wide. Special emphasis is placed on state and local governments and commercial interests within the State of Kansas, the Kansas City metropolitan area, western Missouri, Iowa, and Nebraska.
